The Acropolis

It’s hard to miss The Acropolis once you’re in Athens. This ancient citadel stands on a rocky hill in the center of Greece’s capital. You may be walking through the small streets in Plaka, eating souvlaki in Mitropoleos, or shopping for souvenirs in Monastiraki. You only need to look up and you’ll see the columns stand in all splendor atop. Anywhere in Athens can give you a vantage point of The Acropolis. Though its golden years in the time of Pericles are long gone, the Parthenon amongst other ancient structures are still awed and admired for their historical, architectural and cultural worth today – truly a precious gem of Greece!
