Two years ago, I told myself that I have to go back to the Secret Garden and see it in the Fall. Well, here I am…walking once again in this forbidden forest that used to be exclusive to the most elite in Joseon Dynasty. Everything has naturally grown in the last two years. The thick, lush foliage nearly hides the signature pagoda by the pond. As I look up, sunlight filters through the autumn leaves from crimson to cellophane red.
Only at this time of the year that you may stroll around the grounds on your own and at your own pace. And so do take advantage of it. It feels like you have the entire place to yourself as you deviate farther from the guided tour. It truly is a delight to be back…and would love to revisit anytime soon. The backdrop of Changdeokgung Palace is indeed one of the pristine places to see Autumn in Seoul.
