Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

Hop on a steam locomotive in one of the oldest and longest narrow gauge railways in England.  Here is a seven-mile journey from Eskdale to Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park.  Enjoy the Lake District scenery and be amused with how engineers turn the front cabin and its engine around at the end of the tracks.

Though trains today are empowered by electricity, steam trains remain popular among those who value the past.  Thanks to the creators of the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter, The Polar Express, and Thomas the Tank Engine for instilling an interest in steam trains to the young.  Hopefully, steam locomotives will be chugging around for a long time.
